Four Ways To Make Your Rustic Wedding A Day To Remember

If you prefer casual affairs over glitzy events, a rustic theme is ideal for your wedding day festivities. Historic barns, fields full of wildflowers, and picturesque parks are just a few places to host your rustic wedding. Check out a few ways you can ensure your rustic wedding makes for a memorable wedding day.

1. Switch Up Your Wedding Party's Attire

Start with the wedding party's attire when planning a laid back wedding. Instead of long formal gowns and high heels, have the bridesmaids wear cotton sundresses with cowboy boots. Swap the traditional solid dress hues for delicate floral patterns or fun patterns.

Don't forget the groomsmen! Rustic accessories, like cowboy hats and belt buckles, give their attire a casual touch that goes perfectly with your vision for your wedding day.

2. Rethink Your Wedding Day Transportation

Many couples prefer to incorporate some type of transportation into their wedding day. For example, a horse drawn carriage might bring the bride to the ceremony or the newly married couple may ride away in a limo.

Instead of a horse drawn carriage, swap the carriage for a horse drawn wagon. Another option is to have bride arrive in a classic pickup truck. For the bride with a passion for farming, riding a tractor in is another option.

When it's time for the happy couple to depart for their honeymoon, they can make their getaway in an old VW bus or a vintage convertible.

3. Bring in the Mason Jars

Mason jars are a must have at any affair with a rustic theme. They are also a versatile piece that you can use in a number of different ways.

Instead of having your bridesmaids carry wrapped bouquets, have them carry a Mason jar full of fresh wild flowers. Mason jars also make great centerpieces. Wrap burlap ribbon or delicate white lace around the jars for a simple, lovely look.

When it is time to toast the new marriage, have your guests use Mason jars instead of champagne flutes. You can even personalize the jars so that they double as wedding favors for your guests.

4. Make Your Menu Fit Your Theme

See that your wedding day menu fits your preferences for a casual wedding day. Instead of a sit-down dinner full of fussy foods, consider having your caterer bring in a grill and prepare some of your favorite rustic dishes on site. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, and pork chops are just a few delectable ideas.

Remember to take into account your side dishes. Turnip greens, potato salad, and green beans all complement a rustic main course.
