3 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Wedding Planner

Getting married should be a joyful experience and generally is for most people. Organizing the wedding, however, is often really stressful for a lot of people. However, it doesn't have to be if you hire a full-service wedding planner, who will help take care of all the nitty-gritty details of organizing your nuptials. In order to get the most out of your experience working with a wedding planner, there are a few things you can do.

Tip #1: Find Out What Your Wedding Planner's Strengths Are

The first thing you should do is find out what your wedding planner's strengths are. Each wedding planner is going to have a different background, and therefore, different strengths. Perhaps they worked in the restaurant industry before and really understands the catering process and how to set up the food in an appealing way. Or perhaps they also work as an artist.

Try to find a wedding planner whose strengths are opposite your own. For example, if you couldn't care less about food, working with someone with a background in restaurants would be a good fit as they can take complete control over that part of the process. Or, if you are really organized but not good with creative ideas, working with someone with an artistic flair will allow you to hand over the decorating to them.

Tip #2: Use Your Wedding Planner's Network

A wedding planner works on dozens of weddings each year, which means they have worked with and vetted dozens, if not hundreds of vendors. They know which vendors fell through on them in the past that they don't want to work with again. They know which vendors are reliable. They know which vendors may be able to give you what you are looking for.

Don't disregard the network they have built over the years. Seriously consider any vendors your planner suggests for your wedding; if you are not sure about a vendor, ask your planner about their experience with them.

Tip #3: Allow Your Planner Some Creative Freedom

Don't try to plan and micromanage every part of your wedding. One of the joys of hiring a wedding planner is you don't have to take care of everything. Allow your planner some creative freedom to make choices about your wedding based on the information you provide them with. Allowing your planner the ability to be creative will enhance your wedding and take some of the stress out of the process.

When it comes to working with a wedding planner, find someone with strengths you need. Use their network and allow them some creative freedom when it comes it comes to planning the details of your special day.
